New ux hurts my eyes - very straining and uncomfortable

Aside from all the element placement issues others have already noted pretty extensively, the colours and contrast in dark modes are really, really harsh on the eyes. It’s very straining. Considering the large number of people on Mastodon who are older, neurodiverse, or otherwise just don’t want to burn their retinas, I’m surprised this passed approval. The default magenta is the worst offender here, but they’re all not good. Really wish for the old colours/backgrounds back. Honestlly as it is now, I literally can’t use it.

P.S. I’m on desktop. I can’t speak to mobile as I don’t own a mobile phone and do everything on laptop/desktop.

edit to add: all of my monitors are properly calibrated with a colorimeter. So this can’t be blamed on wonky/wrong display colours.
