Hello, Mastodon is being used by racists and other trolls to pile onto people of colour, women, minorities, and so on. They do this as follows:
- Respond with a racist, insulting comment to the OP.
- Tag the post Followers.
- Racist followers of the first commenter then pile on. Only the OP and the racists can see it.
This is driving Black people and others from Mastodon, and white people like myself are powerless to help because we never see the negative comments.
Suggestions:
- Eliminate the Followers only option. This means the racist comments are in the open and the rest of us can report, block, etc.
- If a post is tagged Followers only, then also hide it from the OP. Then the racists can have their fun amongst themselves and nobody else has to endure it.
