Deck: New post dialog partially hidden by left column

Click New Post in the Deck view and the dialog comes up partially behind the left column, and cannot be moved.

That might be only the case in specific browsers.

For me on Chrome it shows left-aligned with the first content column, overlapping the second content column though.

I doubt that it’s the last iteration of the composer, since there’s a ton of user feedback already.

Interesting. I’m on Chrome as well (Windows). Wonder what the difference is.

What version of Chrome are you using?

We’re tracking this bug on GitHub: [UI] Compose window overlaps with side bar in advanced mode · Issue #41129 · mastodon/mastodon · GitHub

Cannot reproduce this bug, neither in the current stable Chrome nor Firefox (on Windows and Mac OS).

Hi,

i have this issue too:

Oh, then it must have to do with language – fyi @Dion

I set my browser to English. I see yours and the screenshot in the bug report to be German.

Ok interesting… In the image of the original post it’s also in english though. And i also tried it with a browser set to english, with the same result.

Chrome Version 156.0.8078.12 (Official Build) (64-bit). Says it’s up to date.

My browser is set to English.

Then is must be something else to be investigated.

It’s really puzzling.

I’ve not been able to reproduce this yet, but what I’ve done for now is made sure that the composer can’t be covered up by the navigation anymore, so hopefully that should make the bug less severe. (This change will go live tonight.)

If anyone has any other pointers about how to recreate this, it would be very helpful. (Also whether it occurs in different browsers on the same system, and which.)

To be clear, the New Post panel should never be displayed over the top of or under the navigation.

Still broken

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:153.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/153.0

OS Linux 6.18.57-gentoo #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Sun Oct 18 12:03:17 CEST 2026

running without extensions in troubleshooting mode

It smells like a position:sticky bug. Maybe only on Linux?!

It happens to me too. Tried on forefox, opera and vivaldi and still the same error. :frowning: with there is a choice to reverse to the classic mode or to move the dialog

Me too, using Vivaldi

Let’s be serious.
Ui change should be reversed, if it’s possible make it switchable to help bug hunting.
Mastodon is not corporate driven media. What matters is the quality not deadline!
You want to redesign UI? Make it even better than it was? I’m in! But it has to be useable all the time, especially when we’re talking about key or flagship instances.

Please reverse it!

me too with Firefox and Edge with windows 11 and Firefox with Linux. To use the dialog box I don’t use the advanced web interface. regards

Is fixed for everyone?
