There are few problems with navigation shortcuts in advanced (deck) view:
1-9 should select column
1 selects sidebar
2 first column and so on
0 should go to the top of the column
but it works ad least weird
How to reproduce few cases i found
Esc, 2, 0 - should select first column and rewind it to the top (in fact it should be Esc, 1, 0 but i’m dealing with what i have)
it WORKS sometimes, but not always and if not 0 is moving just a piece up, you have to click it many times to go to the top. And there are more weird behaviours here, hard to explain you have to play with it a little
Esc, 3, 0 - second column (notifications in most cases) same behaviour
Instead id goes to first column and go to the top there WORKAROUND: Esc, 3, j, 0
select message, enter, 0 - open message in last column, and rewind to the top of thread
focus stays in the column you’ve selected a post and rewinds it WORKAROUND: select message, enter, j, 0
If it is in any way browser dependent (it should not):
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:153.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/153.0
There’s an issue on GH about this one and a few others, I’m trying to fix them this week. What’s described in this thread is caused by the 0 hotkey not always working.
Strange, not the internal column number but shortkey to in fact inactive sidebar. But ok maybe this will make more sense in the future, after some further changes.
I’m not sure I understand, can you explain in more detail what you mean by the “column number moved by one”? The way it’s intended to work is that the navigation is focused by pressing the key 1, the first pinned column is focused by key 2, and so on.
That’s working as designed then. We explicitly want the navigation panel to be reachable via hotkey. j and k are for navigating posts and other complex items. If you just want to navigate links in the navigation, you can use the Tab key. It’d be a nice enhancement to make j and k work in the navigation as well, but it’s not super high priority.
